Pantone has released their color pick for 2012, it's Tangerine Tango (Pantone 17-1463), a spirited reddish orange.
"Tangerine Tango continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward. Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
Though last years hue, Honeysuckle, piqued my interest more than Tangerine, I'm open to exploring the shade. Being a redhead I'm not instantly drawn to orange in fashion or beauty. Though I am open to incorporating the color into my decor, especially paired with aqua, tangerine's opposite on the color wheel. I'm certainly interested in bringing it into my beverage repertoire. I'm eager to try Dr. Oz’s Tangerine-ade, which contains: green tea, tangerine, and mint.
Tangerine-ade
In a large pitcher, combine:
- 8 cups of brewed green tea
- 1 tangerine, sliced
- A handful of mint leaves
Stir this concoction up at night so that all the flavors fuse together. Drink 1 pitcher daily.
