Today I am in the Southern gem that is Savannah. I can't believe I've let a year and a half go by since heading back for a visit. It's hard to wrap my head around that it has been almost four years since I called Savannah, and specifically Jones St., home. Recall the phrase "keeping up with the Joneses"? Well Savannahians claim that phrase was coined in reference to Jones St.
But bloody hell I didn't expect the temperature to be worse in Savannah than it is in Washington. The fountain at Forsyth Park actually froze over.
The weather though won't stop me from getting my Mint Julep and shrimp and grits on. This time I'm treating myself to a stay at a Bed & Breakfast with a glorious soaking tub. There will also be a visit to the SCAD Museum to peruse the Oscar De La Renta exhibit curated by the Andre Leon Talley. Usually when I'm in Savannah I'm a creature of habit hitting up my favorite haunts, but it appears there's a James Beard nominated chef at the helm of a new restaurant called Grey. Appropriately enough Grey is housed in the old Greyhound building.
All of the sordid details of my trip to be reported upon my return.
