February's installment of 'Behind the Scenes' highlights Asia of the blog Sparrow Soirees. Asia and I crossed paths at Alt Summit two January's ago at a lovely breakfast she hosted for bloggers from the Pacific Northwest. Asia is an uber talented social media and event consulting maven. If you're in need, she's your girl! Asia resides in Seattle with her husband and two adorable boys.
Collects A porcelain holiday village set my Grandma started while I was in high school. Each Christmas she would give each grandchild a retiring piece or two from our “assigned" collection until she passed in 2006. The Mister and I started buying a piece or two each year since then. Some day I hope to be in a house with a space large enough to display it safely during the holidays. It always reminds me of her and I’m thankful for the tradition she gave us to enjoy.
Admires Teachers in our public school system. What they do day in and day out for our kids is just amazing. They’re not given enough credit for the number of challenges they meet and overcome on a daily basis while trying to do their job in the classroom.
Daydreams To become an accomplished home chef.
Guilty Pleasures Whole Foods has amazing chocolate chip cookies in the bakery section - they are so darn good.
Weekend Pursuits We’re usually rushing all around town so I’d say enjoying a movie with a big bowl of popcorn with my family on the couch.
Libation of Choice In order: A crisp Cava or Prosecco, Charles Smith’s Kung Fu Girl Riesling, or Baileys in my coffee.
Coffee or Tea Coffee. Always.
Blooms of Choice Peonies, lilacs, ranunculus, and cherry blossoms.
Favorite Book Books to me are like my children; I cannot pick a favorite. Books that have profoundly impacted my life, “The Poisonwood Bible” by B Kingsolver, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” by M Angelou, “The Sun Also Rises” by E Hemingway, and “East of Eden” by J Steinbeck.
Where I’d Rather Be Enjoying a coffee and sweet bite at a cafe after spending the day exploring the nooks and crannies of an amazing, inspirational French coastal town.
