I'm ending not only the week, but the month, entirely in a "hip hip hooray" state of mind. Ever have a moment where all the stars seem to align and things finally settle into place? All of the stress and sleepless nights finally paid off this week in the culmination of the launching of my online shop, Life Styled, along with a raise and promotion at the 9 to 5 job. Bring it summer.

Behind the Scenes

The ultra chic fashion illustrator, Maya Beus, agreed to be the first person to participate in what is to become the monthly interview series, 'Behind the Scenes'. Maya currently resides in Vancouver and is the illustrator behind the 'Girl with Flower Crown' print currently available from Life Styled.

      

Collects  Nothing. I travel too often so I tend to live light.

Admires  People who are successful and kind.

Daydreams  About artist retreats somewhere on the coast where I could just draw, swim and drink wine.

Guilty Pleasures  Daily Mail. I judge myself.

Weekend Pursuits  Work.

There you have it, a little glimpse 'Behind the Scenes' of Maya Beus' life of late. 

Life Styled

This is a monumental weekend for me. Not only is it the unofficial start of summer (yay!), but my online shop, Life Styled, is launching on Monday (YAY!). I like to think of this as a soft launch, focusing on a capsule collection of items all produced by local artists and artisans. Some of the merchandise will be hyper local, coming from artists on the San Juan island on which I reside. Other pieces will be coming from artists residing further afield, but still from the Pacific Northwest.

The item that I'm most excited to showcase is a print by the uber talented fashion illustrator, Maya Beus. Maya currently resides in Vancouver, BC. She produced a spectacular piece for my shop titled, 'Girl with Flower Crown'. It's so unbelievably striking that I can't help but keep one of the prints for myself. It will have pride of place in my living room just as soon as I find a fitting frame.

   

I've given a sneak peek on Instagram of several of the items that will be available in my shop. The chain link scarf is actually something I knit and which I'm extremely excited to start producing again. The scarf will be available in a variety of colors and lengths. Also in the accessories realm are some baubles by a jeweler named Naomi Jarvie. Her abalone shell earrings are TDF.

Coming down the pike are some stunning baskets made from kelp by Judy Arsten. Judy's versatile baskets can be used as a functional piece or as a piece of art to be displayed as such. Also on the horizon is some striking Raku pottery from the talented artist Lynn Dee.

I am beyond thrilled to be able to share some unique products on Life Styled, created by artists and artisans passionate about the work they are producing. 

They Say it's Your Birthday

My thirty-something Birthday occurred on May 12th and a grand ole time was had not only on the day of, but the weekend prior. The weekend was spent in Seattle with my Mom, it also being Mother's Day weekend and all.

   

On Saturday there was the requisite Birthday breakfast of waffles with strawberries and whipping cream, sausage, and mimosas. Then there was a family lunch at Eureka at U Village, followed by my first ever scoop of Molly Moo's ice cream (definetly something to write home about and worth the long wait).

After checking into our hotel off Lake Union we proceeded to a pre play dinner at The Georgian Restaurant at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The Georgian is posh in that old school way of yesteryear. The perfect setting for prix fixe dinner devised to coincide with the play we were about to see, A Room with a View.
