The second day in LA started over brunch somewhere in West Hollywood, which I can't recall the name of. The food was delicious and the mimosas were free flowing, so that's all that matters.
Along with a day at Disney my mission while in LA was to catch Diane Von Furstenberg's Journey of a Dress exhibit. The pop up style exhibit was housed in a space next to the LA County Museum of Art. Conveniently enough LACMA is home to Chris Burden's Urban Lights, which I've been dying to see up close and personal. After the DVF exhibit we spent a good 30 minutes observing people posing for professional seeming and not so professional seeming photos amongst the lights. It was rather amusing. The LA Brea Tar Pits just happen to be next to LACMA, so we though it worth a pop by. Across from LACMA was a block of food trucks which looked rather enticing, though we didn't partake. Between LACMA, the DVF exhibit, the Tar Pits, and the food trucks, a day could quite happily be passed in that one city block.
The Journey of a Dress exhibit masterfully arranged DVF's wrap dresses by color-story. Though I found the black & white dresses to be captivating, one of my favorite prints was without a doubt the iconic red lips.
In the midst of the DVF exhibit was a giant bed just begging for some silly posing. My friend Sidney and I took advantage of the setting and posed for a few photos.
Then it was on to the Santa Monica pier. We indulged in ice cream by the carousel then after a stroll to the end of the pier, we played a round of "Roll A Ball". Though I didn't win, my friend Sara gifted me her prize. How adorable is the cotton candy on Hello Kitty's frock?!
Then it was time for a sit and some moments to just enjoy the spectacular view.
All at once we came to the realization that our phone batteries were verging on dead, so we strolled down the street to Shutters to make use of their outlets. It didn't hurt that the setting was the ideal location to enjoy a beverage in their Living Room bar.
After a pleasant day we called it an early night, grabbing dinner at a restaurant on La Cienaga nearby our apartment.
