Oh Joy!

I think we can all agree that Joy Cho is a pretty big deal. Not only in the blogosphere but in the world at large. I've been reading Oh Joy! for nine years, as it was coincidentally launched the same year I started my blog. So I've witnessed Joy's achievements over the years. Now Joy has launched a few lines of late, which I've adored, but her line for Target is out of the ballpark (pardon my opening day pun). Today was my first opportunity to peruse the line in person. I had to reign in my urge to fill my shopping cart with her lovely party decorations and essentials. I curbed my urge and took away only a few key pieces, namely the ice bucket, "hooray" cake topper, the water bottle, and wall decals. Now I think I need an excuse for a bash to put these items to use.

Alaïa to Zegna

Get your fashion education on! Now we have no excuse for butchering designers names. The video, produced by i-D, is narrated by the iconic lips of Lindsay Wixon and stars an array of top models. I clearly remember the first time I heard Alaia pronounced, it happened to be by Cher in Clueless. Remember the scene? "This is an Alaia...An Awhatta?" Before Clueless I didn't even know who Azzedine Alaia was, truth be told. Thanks to Cher being held at gunpoint, my fashion knowledge subsequently expanded.

OMG over SJP

People wait in line as actress Sarah Jessica Parker meets fans at the Seattle Nordstrom store.

Mere days before leaving for LA I made a point of scheduling a day trip to Seattle to coincide with Sarah Jessica Parker's appearance and the downtown Nordstrom. Apparently the ultimate head count for the event was in the hundreds. Obviously what kept many as just sideline gawkers and not those graced with a tete-a-tete with SJP was the strict rules that Nordstrom enforced for the event. One was only allowed the privilege of standing in line to possibly meet SJP (she was only guaranteed to put in an appearance for an hour) by purchasing a pair of her steeply priced shoes. I arrived 1 1/2 hours before the 3pm event start time and had to wait almost 3 hours to make my way to the front of the line. Though I heard that die hard fans had been standing in line since the store opened, which ultimately proved unnecessary. SJP, aside from being so teeny-tiny, was absolutely lovely and approachable. She took a fair amount of time to chat up those ushered before her. What a moment.
