Leaving on a jet plane...

In mere days I'll be aboard a plane headed towards Savannah. My visit coincides with the 15th Anniversary of the Savannah Film Festival, where the likes of Matt Dillon and Diane Lane, among others, will be in attendance. This girl cannot wait for some 70-80 degree temps, mojitos & calamari at Sapphire Grille, viewing no less than 15 films (that translates to popcorn for at least one meal a day), checking out the newest culinary additions to the city; A. Lure and The Public Kitchen, cupcakes from Back in the Day Bakery, shopping Broughton St. and the Design District, trivia or bingo at Tybee Island Social Club or Crystal Beer Parlor, getting a blowout at my old salon, reading in the sun at Forsyth park with a glass of sweet tea nearby, attending Shalom Ya'll (the Jewish Food Festival), taking at least one jaunt out to Tybee for seafood, catch up sessions over cocktails, and so much more... 

London Fog

   
Apparently everyone but me knows about the London Fog, an Earl Grey Tea Latte that originated in the pacific northwest, not across the pond, around 2009. Apparently living in Savannah at the time of it's origin made me oblivious to the autumnal weather drink. A friend recently give me a sip of her London Fog and I was instantly smitten. It's bound to be my go to cold weather beverage.

Recipe for the homemade variety

• 16 oz of milk
• 1 shot of vanilla
• 1 bag of Earl Grey tea
• 1/2 cup boiling water

1. Brew a small amount of Earl Grey tea. Add about ½ cup of boiling water to a mug along with a bag of Earl Grey. The result is an Earl Grey tea concentrate. Let steep for 2-4 minutes to achieve optimum flavor.
2. Heat up milk. Access to a steamer is preferred.
3. Add the vanilla syrup.

It occurred to me that since I'm extending an invite to local pals for a new Book Club, I'd feature a simultaneous invitation on the blog. Stock the Bar

I'd been waiting for a reason to snag a bottle of Crystal Head Vodka for my bar cart. The arrival of October seemed the perfect justification for making the purchase. Crystal Head Vodka is the creation of Dan Aykroyd and artist John Alexander. Beyond the disctinctive bottle, the vodka is distilled through diamonds, yes diamonds. The vodka is actually quadruple distilled and triple filtered through Herkimer diamond crystals. Crystal Head Vodka will snazz up any bar cart, on Halloween and beyond.
