Le Pont des Arts (“Bridge of the Arts”) in Paris is a lovely pedestrian bridge crossing the Seine that links the Louvre's Cour Carrée ("square courtyard”) and the Institut de France. It is also commonly known to Parisians as Le Pont des Amoureux or Lover’s Bridge. Couples have taken to attaching padlocks to the bridge then throwing the key into the river below, as a romantic gesture. So it's fitting that Le Pont des Arts is the bridge where Carrie and Big rendezvous in the final episode of Sex and the City. Though I haven't yet finished describing the London leg of my European adventure, here's a little taste of Paris.

   

How cordial

The abundance of blackberries available in late summer and early autumn inspired me to bottle some blackberry cordial. This infused liquor requires only three ingredients and three months of patience. Combine 1 cup of sugar with 2 cups of blackberries, then fill the rest of a mason jar with vodka. Shake the jar once a day to dissolve the sugar and keep away from bright sunlight. Then in three months strain the seeds. Et voila! Come December it will be ready to be consumed and gifted.

Who knew there were so many variations on a summer classic? Though clearly too late in the season to give these a try, attempts will be made next summer to tackle these nontraditional S'mores.

Condensed Collaboration

I managed to get my hands on a couple of pristine cans of the limited edition Campbell's Tomato Soup, depicting Warhol's silk screens from 1962. The cans, available at Target, come in four color schemes, with famed Warhol quotes on the label. If you want a can, act fast, the inventory at my Target the day they were released was seriously depleted, not to mention banged up.
