Joy the Baker is the brilliant mastermind behind the mash up of Drake's lyrics and cake. This collaboration is taking place on Instagram at @drakeoncake. Now I know what to ask to be written on my next Birthday cake.
I'm always on the prowl for home décor inspiration. Since I'm moving house this weekend, I finally have a valid reason to consider some new purchases. This mash up is a bit Palm Beach and a bit Austin. Though too eclectic for one room, dispersed throughout the house it just might do.
If you follow me at all on Instagram, it's no secret that May is my Birthday month. Reluctant to admit that my May is coming to an end, I've compiled a wish list of items I'm coveting from Etsy of late. Because even though my Birthday has come and gone, I'm still in the "treat yo self" mindset.
May's installment of "Behind the Scenes" highlights Tara Kirkland of Custard Boutique in Savannah, GA and Greenville, SC. Custard specializes in eco friendly, domestic, fashion forward and unique items. I first met Tara at the grand opening party for her shop in Savannah years ago. She just celebrated her 7 year anniversary in Savannah and opened her Greenville location in 2012. Tara has an incredible eye which has continued to sustain the interest of locals and tourist alike. With the fickle nature of fashion it's incredible to watch how Custard has not only thrived, but expanded. Tara's well edited shops clearly feature a unique point of view. Trust me when I say that anyone, from ladies who lunch to hipsters, will find something to take away from Custard.

Collects Too much stuff- vintage books on flora and fauna, animals (I have 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rats, 3 birds, and various other wild animals I help rehab), small brass animal bookends... unicorns... you get the idea.
Admires My close friends- they see all the crazy and still want to hang out with me- they must be thick skinned.
Daydreams To have a goat farm.
Guilty Pleasures Sitting in the dark, listening to songs on records that my husband selects- and giving my dog, Manchester, edamame.
Weekend Pursuits If it is sunny (not necessarily warm or hot) I want to be on the water- that means kayaking, on a friend's boat, tubing, or just hanging out by a pool or lake, or creek- and if there is no water to be found, then antiquing for all those things I mentioned before in my laundry list of items I collect.
Libation of Choice Craft beer, and rye- neat
Coffee or Tea Coffee- always- black
Blooms of Choice Thistle and sea holly
Favorite Books Perfume by Patrick Suskind and Dharma Lion: A Biography of Allen Ginsberg by Michael Schumacher
Where I’d Rather Be Cuddling a wild baby giraffe, penguin, lion...
Lipstick or Gloss of the Moment None. Ever. I pretty much only wear mascara unless I think my photo is going to be taken and then I add a little eye colour, but I never do anything on the lips, I don't feel like myself.
Nail Polish Du Jour I like it natural- but that said, if I had to pick- I would go with black. OPI always seems to have great colours that make me wish that my nails would not chip after one day, so sometimes I kid myself a buy a cool blue or another black, but I never use them.
Scent Ambre Blends- essential oils - I love Invoke and Solace both are 100% organic oils, soft and subtle, and you bet- every time I wear them- people ask about it.
Style Icon My go to is a combo of Mr. T and Mr. Rogers- I have always thought that those two men were beyond any kind of cool I could ever achieve. I guess, the big thing they both have in common is layers. I have always been a fan of layers- Mr. T also has had some of the coolest hair of all time!
Can’t Leave the House Without Accessories. I may not be much for makeup and nail polish- but I do love jewelry. I love hand made, unique pieces- I have a stack of slim wrist cuffs and bangles I almost NEVER take off, (artist Workhorse, Betsy & Iya, vintage pieces and a craft fair find complete a stack of 5) a recycled silver talisman necklace (made in Vancouver by Pyrrha) and my wedding rings (by Melissa Joy Manning- also recycled gold).
Pending Vacations Good stuff in the works here- a trip out to San Francisco for the Renegade Craft Fair, Headed to Durham, NC and the Outer Banks, and a mini trip to Chicago.
Crushing On My friends at Red Clay Soap - they are an amazing family, their soap is awesome, and all of the baby goats, mom goats and general farm wildlife are so lovely that I feel my heart on the brink of bursting just typing about it!

So the next time you're in the general vicinity of Greenville or Savannah make sure you pop by Custard. You won't leave empty handed. Trust me. Bonus: they ship!
How did you all fare? For those of us that reside in the pacific northwest, there wasn't the same frenzy as in the southern and eastern states. Waking up at 6am to everything sold out online, I ended up trekking to my closest Target. I got in line about 20 minutes before the store opened and there were only 7 people ahead of me. Once the store opened everyone behaved very civilly and no one appeared to be hording or taking more than their share.
What I really coveted was available, but I didn't end up purchasing it. The hammock with stand, priced at $300, was beyond what I could justify spending. The garden stool, also overly pricey, was really lovely but did not come home with me either. I did manage to go home with a pair of pineapple sandals, a pineapple dish, the palm print lounge pants, a palm print beach towel, and an adorable pillow edged in pom poms.
For those of you that had to go home empty handed, I'm giving away one of my Lilly spoils on Instagram. All you have to do is like my photo and follow me at @hissandtell to win a Train Case makeup carryall in the Fan Dance pattern.
March's installment of 'Behind the Scenes' highlights Marisa of The Crafty Fox. Marisa and I have been friends since our early twenties. Which was just a few years ago, obviously. The way we met is quite an interesting tale, but best saved for another time. Marisa is one of those people who make you jealous by their layers of talent. She's a brilliant artist, designer, turtle rescuer, and also a musician. Her Etsy shop will be launching this spring. Brace yourself.
Collects old books on fairy tales among many other things!
Admires Squirrels. The way they can keep adapting to the crazy stuff humans do out there.. it's pretty amazing.
Daydreams Ah… living in a little stone cottage, with a view of a darling little garden, with a cozy fireplace, a library room for all my books, and in the bathroom a large claw foot tub - preferably with Colin O'Donoghue soaking in it.
Guilty Pleasures pizza & pie - my stomach is a bottomless pit for both
Weekend Pursuits I don't really have weekends; everyday is just a day. But, on days I pull back, I do enjoy discovering a new town or falling down the rabbit hole of a new book.
Libation of Choice Jameson with seltzer
Coffee or Tea coffee, coffee, coffee!
Blooms of Choice lilacs, lilly of the valley, monks hood and fox glove
Favorite Book oh this is a toughie! For now I am going to name two "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" by Mark Twain and "Peter Pan in Kensington Garden"s by J.M. Barrie… but really who can pick just one?!?!
Where I’d Rather Be in that bathroom with the large occupied claw foot tub - hey, whoa, what now!
Lipstick or Gloss of the Moment Tarte's "Amazonian butter lipstick" in Plummy Rose
Nail Polish Du Jour "Cerulean Rock" by Mineral fusion. It's a really pretty blue/green water nymphy colour
Signature Scent when I remember to I wear a cream perfume called "Forest"
Style Icon Chuck from Pushing Daisies
Can’t Leave the House Without tissues, lipstick, a book, and a mug of coffee (I run errands with an actual mug - not a thermos or travelers type cup - of coffee)
