Colin Firth adorable as always as Mark Darcy, Christmas jumper and all.
For some reason this time of year I indulge in activities that I normally steer clear of during the rest of the year. The two prime examples being; puzzles and cheesy Hallmark made for TV movies. I have no explanation, but for some reason this time of year only, I adore working on a Charlie Brown Christmas theme puzzle and devouring the current onslaught of Hallmark Christmas movies. Sometimes I even enjoy both at once! There's something about this time of year that brings out the urge to indulge in corny traditions and there's nothing wrong with that.
So, BESIDES the fact that Jessica Alba "liked" my photo on Instagram (#PinchMe); this ceramic tree is my favorite Christmas decoration. The tree was painted by my paternal Grandmother and gifted to me by my Father last Christmas. My Mom actually still possesses the tree that my Maternal Grandmother painted. Apparently these trees were quite the en vogue thing to paint by the Grandmother set in the 80's. I've spotted several at other people's homes over the years. Of course you can find vintage versions on eBay. Not to mention that you can find smaller versions of the trees at those "paint your own pottery" establishments of late. Though nothing beats the sentiment behind a Christmas decoration kept in the family for generations, cracks and all.
