Time to delve into the London portion of my trip to Europe this June. Departure is set for a mere 4 weeks away. Kate Spade has teamed up with the travel site Fathom to create some brilliant city guides. One of the Kate Spade+Fathom city guides just happens to be London. A city I'm beyond eager to visit, but have woefully neglected representing on the blog. That's about to change. It's all London all the time from here on out. From where to eat+drink+sleep+shop+explore, these guides have you covered. They are so clever as to even recommend what to pack in visual form.
I'd been waiting for the right time to start the adventure that is Birchbox (hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door monthly for only $10). The fact that my Birthday month coincided with Birchbox's teaming up with Gossip Girl made it a no brainer that May was the month to jump in.
The highlight of this Birthday was the flowers. The champagne, cake, and gifts were welcome also, but there's just something about a house full of flowers that does me in. I literally had flower arrangements in every room of my house; lilacs, tulips, lilies, and garden arrangements scented my house this Birthday week. And now an arrangement of my absolute favorite blooms, peonies.
I picked up a copy of The Family Man based on sheer attraction to the cover, as I'm know to do. But it took me being taken with the premise to actually purchase and read the novel. "A man reconnects with his long-lost stepdaughter in this screwball comedy from an Austen-like stylist," Washington Post Book World. I eventually came to the realization that I'm familiar with the author Elinor Lipman's work, only in cinematic form. I've seen the film Then She Found Me, which was apparently based on Lipman's novel of the same name, which I quite liked. I'll admit I generally am fond of most novels with New York as the setting. For reasons beyond just the setting though, The Family Man was captivating from the get go and held my rapt attention through to completion. I now have a long list of Lipman's other novels in my Amazon wishlist awaiting purchase.
